The Danger Of Malaria Caused By Mosquitoes

At first glance, you may not realize just how harmful mosquitos can be. Yea, you know that when they bite you, you have to itch in that area and it can get annoying. What you might not know is that mosquitos cause more human suffering than any other organism. Over one million people die each year worldwide from mosquito-borne diseases. Mosquitos carry disease that can affect humans, but they also transmit diseases and parasites that can cause harm to animals such as dogs and horses.

One of the biggest diseases in the world is Malaria. This is a mosquito-borne disease that is caused by parasites. It causes symptoms such as fever, chills, and a flu-like illness. If malaria isn’t treated, there could be sever complications and people can die. Symptoms could begin between 10 days to 4 weeks after being infected. A person could start to feel ill as early as 7 days or as late as 1 year later.

One of the good things about malaria is that it can be prevented. It is most commonly associated with sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, but there are still 1,500 cases of malaria diagnosed in the United States each year, with most of these cases coming from travelers and immigrants.

The treating of malaria depends on a variety of factors such as the severity of the disease, the species of the malaria parasite causing the infection and the part of the world in which the infection was acquired. A person’s age, weight, and pregnancy status could limit the options to treat malaria.

There are a number of organizations that help to reduce deaths from malaria. Mosquito Squad Chicago has partnered with Malaria No More, a nonprofit organization, to help end malaria deaths in Africa.
